Media and the Developing Child; Emotion, Race, and Learning

This project uses a diverse sample of parents of children ages 3 to 7 to better understand processes shaping how children learn from media and technology, how media and technology influence children's emotional development, and the role of race and ethnic identity in shaping how families engage with children's media. 

Advancing the Children Media Quality Index

Working with scholars at Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea, we are working to better understand the intersection between development and media within the cultural context of South Korea using a variety of methodological approaches.

The Human Development and Media Lab at UC Davis has partnered with LingoKids to evaluate two versions of their smartphone and tablet application (app).

Netflix 13 Reasons Why

In collaboration with Netflix, this project assessed the mental- health related impacts of the 2017 series 13 Reasons Why on adolescence from Australia/New Zealand, U.K., U.S., and Brazil.
