Around the world, policymakers are trying to find ways to help social media be a safer space for children and teens to grow up in. However, it is difficult to know the best policies that will lead to the best outcomes for children and teens. In collaboration with scholars at Brigham Young University, Utah State, and Harvard University, we are taking advantage of a natural experiment occurring as new social media regulations aimed to protect teens in the state of Utah are implemented in 2024. Using a variety of methods, we are hoping to better understand the effects of social media regulation on adolescent well-being.
